Plains Art Museum offers Autism and Art Workshops

Plains Art Museum is offering two Autism and Art Workshops for families with children on the Autism Spectrum Disorder. The first workshop is Saturday, Feb. 7, from 10 a.m. to noon on “Colors & Shapes in VIVID,” which ties into a current exhibition featuring accomplished artists with autism. The second workshop is “Awake the Five Senses,” on Saturday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to noon.  Both workshops provide hands-on learning activities in museum galleries and art projects in the Katherine Kilbourne Burgum Center for Creativity.

The workshops are developed and run by Museum education staff and special education professionals. The cost for each workshop is $10 per child. A free informational meeting for parents and/or caregivers is required and will occur the Thursday before each program at 7 p.m. The registration deadline is one week before the workshop. To register, call 701-551-6100 or visit www.plainsart.org.
