Hive Raising and Opening Reception

Green Card Youth Voices Fargo: Book Reading and Exhibit

Join Green Card Voices and Plains Art Museum to hear three student authors read their stories in Green Card Youth Voices Fargo. The Fargo youth exhibit will also be on view in the Museum. The three student authors who will share excerpts from their stories are:

Muhend Abakar (Sudan): “There are people around that want to help you. They’re gonna help if you ask. Nobody will help you if you don’t ask for it.”

Roshika Nepal (Nepal): “I remember that I cried when I left the refugee camp because I was leaving everything behind.”

Iraguha Yvette (Tanzania): “My hope is that people get to know our Motherland, Africa, more as we are learning about their land.”

Free and open to the public.

The Art of Hope and Healing: Peaceful Painting

Experience hope and healing through guided healing arts sessions at Plains Art Museum. Open to individuals and families who have been impacted by substance abuse, these workshops provide a safe space to share and heal through gentle art activities led by trained teaching artist and therapeutic arts facilitator Nikki Anderson. Participants are invited to view art in the Museum’s galleries and create original art in a creative and non-threatening studio environment. Free and open to the public. Limited space, registration required.

This afternoon of engagement at the Museum coincides with our 2nd Annual Summer Art sale, wheel-throwing demonstrations, and free admission to the Museum galleries.

Recycling the Clay Community Day

Create your own vessels using recycled clay from our ceramics programs. Participants can sign up for one of three sessions offered at 10:00 AM, noon, or 2:00 PM. Teaching artists will lead demonstrations on creating different types of ceramic objects – from pinch, to coil, to slab – at each session.
