Of all the sketches Johnson chooses to make into prints, very few are immediately apparent to him as worthwhile print subjects. But after making the sketch for Potted Flower a few years ago, he realized immediately that it should be made into a print, one that shows a departure from his usual themes of imagined trees and cityscapes. Johnson is an adjunct instructor for Minnesota State Community and Technical College and North Dakota State University.
