Matson-Fluto bases the figures in her work upon imagined interpretations of those familiar to her, even herself, and often portrays them as being suspended, drifting, or trapped in space. These perceptions, prompted by a life-altering experience, are part of her desire to learn more about herself, others around her, and the spaces they occupy. Matson-Fluto’s work is included in private and public collections throughout the Midwest. She is an adjunct art professor at Minnesota State University Moorhead.
