This photo by Solinger, taken in the fall of 2010, is part of a group of photos taken in Maplewood State Park near Pelican Rapids, Minn. These photos show time lines of several geological processes, each proceeding at their own pace, written on hills and stones, the trees, and the seasons. In 2005, Solinger received a grant from the North Dakota Museum of Art to photograph the trees of the Red River Valley and Minnesota lake country for a series that toured throughout North Dakota as part of the museum’s Rural Arts Initiative.
