“I traveled further west to the Badlands for some bird’s eye views and plein air painting,” Ornberg said. “It was March, sometimes snowing, some greens, bison, wild horses, wonderful vistas, and no people. Back in the studio, I painted watercolors from the smaller painting, refining, simplifying, and intensifying what watercolor media is capable of doing.”
