Minneapolis artist Xavier Tavera recently participated in Plains Art Museum’s Day of the Dead: Latino Artists Create Streamroller Prints exhibition. In the artist’s words, “When I moved from Mexico City to the United States for employment reasons, I learned what it felt like to be part of a subculture—the immigrant community. I tap into that feeling of alienation when I photograph those from subcultures to share their lives with others.” This photo was taken in Cuba.
