Julie Burgum elected board chair
We are pleased to announce the election of Julie Burgum as the new board chair of Plains Art Museum. A dedicated and enthusiastic advocate for the arts and education, Julie joined the board in 2007. ”Plains Art Museum is such a wonderful resource and gathering place for the community and the entire region,” Julie said. ”As a former teacher, I greatly appreciate the creative inspiration and education the Museum offers, especially for young people throughout the surrounding area.”
A resident of Casselton, she is an active leader and volunteer in other non-profits and educational institutions. She is president of the Casselton Heritage Center, and also serves on the North Dakota State University (NDSU) Development Foundation Board of Trustees, the NDSU BisonArts Board, and the NDSU Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Advisory Council. Previously Julie was a family and consumer science teacher at West Fargo Middle School and a past board member of North Dakota 4-H Foundation and Rural Leadership North Dakota. The Bradley J. Burgum Skybridge connecting the Museum to the Katherine Kilbourne Burgum Center for Creativity is named in honor of Julies late husband.
We are grateful to former board chair Arlette Preston for her service in this role, and her continued participation as a board member. We also say goodbye and extend a heartfelt thank you to Lisa Sluke for her contributions and service to our board.
