Adult Tours

Adult educational tours are designed for adult community groups and business organizations. Single visit art-making workshops are also available through our Experiences by Request program.

Scheduling + Availability

We require a minimum of three weeks advance notice to schedule a guided group tour. Self-Guided Tour

Free admission Thanks to our members and donors
Any group may tour the Museum through a self-guided experience. Reservations are required for groups of 10 or more.

Guided Tour

$4 per person
Guided tours are a 60-minute** experiences led by Plains Art Museum educators. Guided tour groups will engage in close looking and inquiry-based experiences in the Museum galleries. Reservations are required. Requests for specific topics will be considered by the Education Department.

Access the Plains is a program that offers free gallery admission to any 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that works with disadvantaged people or people who have disabilities. If your agency provides mentorship, disability services, family services, counseling, or other community services, please indicate that when requesting a visit.
**Tour length may be modified to a shorter or longer experience upon request.

Please note that Professional Development workshops are available for educators. These workshops offer pre-visit resources and prepare educators to lead groups on tours.

Guided Gallery Tour

$2** per student. Free* for a limited number of adult chaperones.

Guided tours are a 60-minute*** experience led by Plains Art Museum educators. The group will engage in an interactive, inquiry-based experience in the Museum galleries. Reservations are required.

Gallery + Studio Tour

$4** per student. Free* for a limited number of adult chaperones.

Gallery + Studio is a 90-minute*** experience designed for PreK through 12th grade students and led by Plains Art Museum educators. The experience includes an interactive, inquiry-based tour of Museum exhibitions followed by a trip to the Center for Creativity to engage in an art-making experience in the studio. Reservations along with a minimum of 15 participants are required.

*One adult per 10 students will receive free admission. Plains Art Museum requires at least one chaperone for every 15 students. Regular Museum admission pricing applies to additional adults.
**For schools with 50 percent free and reduced lunch, the cost is discounted 50%.

Professional Development for Educators

Gallery-Based Learning at Plains Art Museum is a workshop available for educators. At this 90-minute workshop, Plains Art Museum education staff review available resources at the Museum, provide an overview of exhibitions and spend time in the galleries— modeling simple and effective looking activities. These workshops are highly recommended for educators planning to lead self-guided visits. Participants will receive pre-visit resources and a letter of participation that can be used for professional development or recertification requirements.

Reservations are required, and the cost is $10.00 per participant.
