Plains Art Museum will host an exhibition of acrylic and watercolor paintings created by award-winning artist Ellen Jean Diederich as illustrations for her new book, Samson’s Gift. The show opens Saturday, Nov. 15, with a book signing from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Museum’s Katherine Kilbourne Burgum Center for Creativity.
Samson’s Gift is a Christmas tale about the joy of selfless giving, which Diederich brings to life through the character of Samson, a sheep afraid to get his wool sheared. At the book signing, Diederich will give an author’s talk, and Cole Carley will read from the book.
The event is free and open to the public, with refreshments and treats provided. Samson’s Gift will be available for purchase at the event and at the Museum gift shop. The paintings are on exhibit through Jan. 11, 2015.
Diederich is the owner/publisher of Givinity Press in Fargo, www.givinity.com. She teaches watercolor workshops locally and nationally. A member of Fargo Moorhead Visual Artists, Diedrich will also give an FMVA Visual Talk at the Museum on Thursday, Nov. 20, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. The talk covers the inspiration and book production insights for Samson’s Gift, and is free and open to the public.View Event
