At Plains Art Museum, we believe that art in all forms is spectacular and has the power to enrich lives and impact our community. We are proud to introduce the inaugural exhibition for our Mothers of Invention series, titled See Acts of Audacious Daring! The Circus World of Judy Onofrio. This exhibition will feature the magical work of Rochester, Minn., artist Judy Onofrio. This series will enhance the cultural and artistic life of the community while creating public awareness for an older generation of women artists to ensure that their work and contributions to the arts are known and remembered. These pioneering artists stand as courageous and creative role models that can inspire others and show how doors have been opened for younger women in the art world.
Onofrio’s large-scale, mosaic sculptures of magicians, acrobats, animals, and circus acts will be exhibited alongside historic examples of circus banners, posters, and carvings from Circus World Museum in Baraboo, Wis.
Plains Art Museum is dedicated to bringing people and art together for learning and inspiration. Our goal is that each visitor be inspired by art and experiences that promote lifelong learning and personal growth.
As we celebrate the work and accomplishments of artists, we hope you’ll join us by sending your tax-deductible gift today, or by making your gift online. Being a member comes with endless benefits, but the best one is intangible: the knowledge that you are making a difference. Let’s show our community the magnificence of art!
