Chili Bowl

February 11, 2021, 9:00 am to 3:45 pm

This event runs from February 4 – 11.

As we are all discovering, the pandemic has caused nimble responses to change. Though Giving Hearts Day is nominally a virtual event, many nonprofits have created special in-person events like the Museum’s “Chili Bowl.” Our 2021 version will not be in-person. No seven types of scrumptious chilis. No music from The Cropdusters. No performances from Red River Dance.

What we will have are 150+ ceramic bowls created through the skill and generosity of local potters. Each bowl can be purchased for $20 – this year with credit card and check only – and will include one of five chili recipes. Additionally, there will be four $25 gift cards to Rustica Eatery & Tavern, Blackbird Woodfire, Maxwell’s Restaurant & Bar, and 46 North Pint & Provisions scattered amongst the bowls for four fortunate winners. And we will conduct our “Day” for one week – 2.4 through 2.11, ending with Giving Hearts Day. And as always, all proceeds from “Chili Bowl” support the Museum’s clay-centric education programs like the ever-popular Clay for Couples, Clay Sampler, and Plains Art Inside & Out. We invite you to give back on Giving Hearts Day, Thursday, February 11, givingheartsday.org.

This year, to accommodate social distancing, we are asking our supporters to register for a designated time. Four slots are available in 15-minute increments from 9:00 am – 2:45 pm from February 4 – 11, 2021. We ask you to please come to the Museum and pick up your bowl at your designated time. However, if you experience a conflict to do so, please contact Savannah Schultz at sschultz@plainsart.org to make other arrangements.

Treaties are living documents that are "the supreme law of the land" and remain legally binding agreements that establish the political relationship between Native Nation and the United States government. These agreements have established land boundaries, resource rights, reservations; they determine Tribal Nation citizenship and outline mutual obligations.
