Tours and Studio Experiences
Tours at Plains Art Museum create space for people to slow down, look closer, and connect with each other and the artwork. Guided tours are led by trained staff using a visitor-centered and inquiry-based approach and can range between 45-60 minutes.
Enhance your museum experience with hands-on making in our studios. Adaptable for any age, ability, and arts background, our trained teaching artists focus on developing artistic skills, building connection within a group or team, and provide a fun and engaging experience.
Reservations are required.
We ask any group of seven or more people to inform us about your planned visit at least three weeks in advance, even if you are not interested in a guided tour. This helps us adequately prepare for your visit and prevent overcrowding in the galleries.
Guided Tour Rates: $10/person for a group of 7+. If the group is under 7 people, the total tour is $70 for one hour.

Tours provided by Plains Art Museum are visitor-centered and inquiry-based. Your tour guide will focus on and facilitate discussions around the artwork that your group is connecting with. Self-Guided Tours | FREE
For groups of seven or more, or anyone looking to enhance their museum experience. By scheduling a self-guided tour, you can rest assured that we are expecting you and your group.

Tour + Studio Experience | $20/per clay project or $15/per non-clay project
An engaging, hands-on experience including tour of current exhibitions and a creative making opportunity in our studios. Led by our Learning & Engagement team, trained teaching artists will guide your group through creative making without the intimidation! We typically schedule two hours for a tour + studio experience, but we are adaptable to fit your needs.
Custom Workshops | Price is determined based on the request
Developed by request and in partnership with you, a custom workshop is designed to meet the goals of your group. Are you looking to provide a mindful, relaxing experience for a team of caregivers in need of respite? Or what about an active, engaging, team building opportunity to broaden your group’s perspectives and increase critical thinking skills? Let’s do it!

What if I’d like my tour to be longer?
Tour length can be modified upon request to best fit your group’s needs.
Scheduling helps us prepare for you and ensures that all visitors are comfortable. Advance notice helps to prevent overcrowding in the galleries.
How many chaperones should I bring with my K-12 group?
For every ten K-12 students we require one adult chaperone. This extends to any group with visitors under the age of 18 years old, whether visiting with a school or not.
