Please join us as we return to public Creative Voices Artist Talks with Gerald Cournoyer. Gerald holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Oklahoma and a master’s in non-profit arts management.  Gerald Cournoyer is an Oglala Lakota artist from Marty, South Dakota, Gerald is the former art director and VP of Development at Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Following in the Northern Plains Indian art traditions of Oscar Howe (Yanktonai Dakota) and Fritz Scholder (Luiseño), Gerald has blended his cultural and artistic backgrounds to connect with his students throughout his career. Gerald is currently the art history lecture for the Northern Plains Summer Art Institute through June 25.

Donald D. Powell, a Fargo native, was a prolific, award-winning architect and a keen art collector. Powell amassed a sizeable collection of European and American modern art in an array of media. He donated much of his impressive collection to the Plains Art Museum in several installments in 1999, 2000, 2002-3, 2005-9, and 2013.
