Indigenous Art Fair at Plains Art Museum Rescheduled for April 9

Fargo, North Dakota – The Indigenous Art Fair has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 9 from 10:00 – 5:00 pm in the First Floor Atrium of Plains Art Museum.
This is the 6th annual Indigenous Art Fair and features Indigenous artists from around the region. This is a juried art fair with 18 spots available. Participating artists are provided with a 6’ table and two chairs for their space. Artists are invited to bring their displays for setup and electricity will be provided for those who need it. Plains Art Museum Announces Northern Plains Summer Art Institute 2022

Fargo, N.D. – It’s back! Plains Art Museum, in conjunction with Circle of Nations School, is thrilled to announce the 2022 session for the Northern Plains Summer Art Institute (NPSAI22) from June 12 – 24, 2022.
Entering its third year, NPSAI22 is a two-week intensive art program for Native American high school students seeking an art education that mixes fundamentals in art and a connection to their cultural identity. Students will spend two weeks with their peers learning from active Native American professionals in multiple disciplines of the art world. Due to the generosity of the Creativity Among Native American Artists, the program is free for all who attend and will include housing, meals, coursework, and all art supplies. Circle of Nations is a drug and alcohol-free campus, therefore the use of drugs and/or alcohol by NPSAI22 students is prohibited.
The majority of classroom instruction will take place at Circle of Nations School with daily lessons, including a fundamental drawing course and a history lesson on Native American Art. The two-week experience will incorporate additional art-based instruction and include a day trip to Plains Art Museum.
Eligible candidates for NPSAI22 are students entering the 10th -12th or college in the fall of 2022, are dedicated to pursuing the visual arts, and are interested in their Native American culture. Students will be selected based on a submitted portfolio of their artwork, one letter of reference, and a signed guardian permission form. Applications are due by midnight May 1, 2022. Students will be notified about their acceptance by Friday, May 6, 2022.

Circle of Nations School is an inter-tribal off-reservation boarding school, chartered under the Sisseton-Wahpeton Dakota Oyate and funded by the Bureau of Indian Education. Circle of Nations School serves American Indian youth in grades 4 through 8.
