Recourse (noun): A source of help in a difficult situation.
This exhibition highlights two different bodies of work by painter Britta Anderson. On view will be her traditional water scapes paired with a multimedia series Anderson calls the Comfort Collection. Although done in different medias, Anderson’s works maintain a constant visual and contextual conversation with each other. Traditionally trained, Anderson embeds ideologies and techniques from 1800s Romanticism into contemporary approaches on landscape. Here these scapes present to the viewer Anderson’s relationship with natural place, nostalgia, and spatial curiosity.
Britta Anderson received her Master of Fine Arts at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), and a BFA in Studio Art/Art Education at Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM). Her work has been the subject of numerous group and solo exhibitions across the Midwest and Southeast, along with private and corporate collections across the United States.
