Plains Art Museum Launches The Museum Uncrated
Press Release
For Immediate Release (January 2023)
Fargo, North Dakota – The public is invited to attend the inaugural session of its new program, Museum Uncrated, on Wednesday January 18, 2023 from 6-8 pm at the Museum. The curatorial department will explore various topics on the third Wednesday of the month, including: What’s up with Art Theft? For its first session, followed by What’s in the basement? On February 15, How do we talk about art? On March 15, and What’s up with art collecting? On April 19.
This talk series will allow the Museum’s curatorial tem to break down different points of entry in museums; from art theft, to focusing on why art is framed the way it is, to the labels we see on the wall. Each session will have a takeaway for participants. Museum Uncrated is free, and each session’s materials are included at no cost.
“The art world is full of crazy stories from the purchasing, production, and history of these institutions that even those who don’t know a lot about art could enjoy. We are also a department of storytellers and we wanted a platform to be able to tell all of these wild experiences we have had or are adjacent to,” said Emma Tomb, Associate Curator of Exhibitions and Collections.
Additional inquires about Museum Uncrated may be directed to Emma Tomb at etomb@plainsart.org.
