Democracy in Dialogue Virtual Exchange, Spring 2026
With Time: A Reflection
Art should not only be seen, but explored and understood deeply. With Time: A Reflection, is a collective project composed of selected artworks and paired reflections chosen and written by local teens from the FM Metro.
We invite you to view With Time: A Reflection at your own pace by selecting an artwork and reading the teen-written response.
This collection of work includes images, personal reflections through essay, poetry, and visual art. Each student chose an impactful artwork from Wiwahokichiyapi, They Promised Things to Each Other or the permanent collection of Plains Art Museum and, through independent and shared research and conversation, the student created a unique response to the work that resonated with them.
This project was made possible through authentic, relevant, and thoughtful dialogue guided by the Smithsonian Institution through the Democracy in Dialogue Virtual Exchange (DiDVE) program. Our cohort began an intensive in February and spanned through the end of May. Composed of eleven dedicated, and insightful teens from middle and high school grade levels, we reflected on North Dakota, and how our community has contributed to the 250 years of American history.

Thank you to the Smithsonian Institution for the opportunity to participate in the 2026 Democracy in Dialogue Virtual Exchange this spring.
