Memory • Translation • Injury: A Conversation with Ed Bok Lee

Join Dr. Kelvin Monroe in a scintillating dialogue with poet Ed Bok Lee to discuss memory, translation, and injury as fluid ideas that ground the poetic and interpretive work of ekphrasis—or the work of encountering visual art and vividly describing and intimating about it as a literary device. Lee and Monroe talk about three works on loan from Art Bridges by the artists Kerry James Marshall, Glenn Ligon, and Alfred Conteh and how, as a Korean American poet, these works call forth translation, memory, and injury as distinct modes of interpretive work when it comes to visual, linguistic, and aesthetic communication. There will also be Q&A and refreshments. We look forward to your presence.

Generous support for this project provided by Art Bridges.
