Presented by Livewire, Plains Art Museum’s Spring Gala 2024: Sci-Fi Artistry will welcome guests into the Museum with lighting and spectacle by Livewire, the region’s largest wine tasting by Happy Harry’s Bottle Shops, hors d’oeuvres from Chef’s Table and Urban Foods, and sci-fi inspired art adventures courtesy of Fargo Pinball, Puzzled Escape Rooms, and Folkways. Enjoy dessert from Nichole’s Fine Pastry & Café before dancing the night away to DJ Star IV and Post-Traumatic Funk Syndrome. Guests are invited to bid on high-quality art (or a surprise Tombola box) in a silent auction.

A Little Grey For Color

Donald D. Powell, a Fargo native, was a prolific, award-winning architect and a keen art collector. Powell amassed a sizeable collection of European and American modern art in an array of media. He donated much of his impressive collection to the Plains Art Museum in several installments in 1999, 2000, 2002-3, 2005-9, and 2013.

Emma Katka, a self-taught artist from Grand Forks, ND, seeks solace through emotive photography and collage. Her stomping grounds for creation are often abandoned buildings, the open prairie, old magazines, and wherever inspiration illuminates moments within daily life.
