Education Collection

The educational mission of Plains Art Museum is to inspire and engage diverse audiences through our collections, exhibitions, and programs, and stimulate the spirit of inquiry by acknowledging a variety of perspectives and learning styles.

The Education Collection refers to artwork acquired to support museum programs and activities. Education Collection artworks are divided into two categories:

Hands-On Art – Artwork acquired with the intent of being handled under supervision and with the knowledge that they may have a finite life as part of the Education Collection.

Display Art – Artwork acquired with the consent and intent of the artist that the work will be part of the Education Fine Art Collection. This artwork will be used for demonstrations or displayed in areas of the Museum that are not climate controlled.
